I cannot tell you how much I adore Christmas music. I start playing it Thanksgiving weekend, and I confess it’s really all I listen to for a month straight. Some of my favorite songs are Christmas Time is Here, Little Drummer Boy, Three Ships,  God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, The Christmas Song, Joy to the World, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Romy’s favorite song, hands down is Jingle Bells. Diana Krall’s version to be exact. (there’s lots of scatting, that may be why!) She claps, bops her head and smiles every time. Then when it’s over, she says ” Ji Bells please” several times until I play it again, and and then again!  Here are some artists/albums that we play alot during the Christmas season: John Fahey’s Christmas Guitar Volume I, Diana Krall’s Christmas Songs, Sufjan Stevens Songs for Christmas, and Vince Guaraldi’s Charlie Brown Christmas.

I have to say that I am in full Christmas season mode, and have never been more excited about it. Having Romy has  cranked up my holiday spirit to the max. I mean, I have always liked the holiday season, but not like this. I was as giddy as a child putting the ornaments on the tree, and watching her face when she saw it for the first time all lit up might just be one of my favorite moments ever. She is very much  into Santa, Rudolph and snowmen. Oh, the snowmen! She has snowman jammies, a snowman cup (thanks to Mimi) and snowman books. It’s all snowman, all the time around here. We even have a giant inflatable one outside.  To see a small child’s excitement and wonder over the “magic” of Christmas must be one of life’s greatest treasures, to be sure. I can hardly wait till Christmas Day!
